3. Our sponsorship principles

The following principles should be applied to all sponsorship agreements:

  • protection and enhancement the Council’s reputation and brand identity
  • ensuring the proportional use of Council money best value is obtained through any sponsorship arrangements, including any arrangements made where we receive either money or a benefit in kind
  • ensuring accountability and transparency of decision making,
  • ensuring compliance with relevant legislation (including but not limited to the Equality Act 2010) and other Council policies
  • managing potential conflicts of interest
  • protecting members and officers from allegations of inappropriate dealings or relationships with sponsors
  • ensuring that the Council consistently implements its commitment to health promotion, especially in consideration of children and young people
