Apply for apprenticeship funding (levy transfers)
Your business can apply for funding for apprenticeships using our apprenticeship levy transfer policy.
This initiative enables eligible local employers to access funding for apprenticeship training and assessment costs, helping to develop skills in key sectors while supporting Buckinghamshire residents. It addresses local skills shortages, strengthens partnerships, and contributes to the growth of the local economy.

Who can apply
Your business may be eligible if:
- you are based in Buckinghamshire Council’s area or your apprentice lives there
- you are either;
- a small employer exempt from the levy or
- a levy-paying employer who has used all their levy funds for the current financial year
- you can demonstrate why other funding routes (e.g. government co-investment) aren’t suitable
- you commit to employing the apprentice for the full duration and agree to pre-screening and 6 monthly reviews
Apprentices must:
- live or work in Buckinghamshire Council's area
- be in a role aligned with council services or one of the following sectors:
- health and social care / life sciences
- construction
- creative industries (film & TV)
- high performance engineering
- space
- education
- digital
Before you apply
Make sure:
- the apprenticeship hasn't started yet
- it follows an approved apprenticeship standard
- you will pay the apprentice’s salary (funding covers training/assessment only)
- you provide a contract of employment and meet off-the-job learning requirements.
You are responsible for selecting the training provider, but our Apprenticeships Team can help suggest suitable options.
