Apply for consent to work on a listed building
When consent may not be required
Minor repairs and maintenance which use traditional historic materials to match the original work do not normally need consent, such as:
- small areas of repointing
- small areas of rendering
- smaller areas of plasterwork
- replacing individual lost roof tiles or damaged bricks
- thatch maintenance
- in situ window repairs
- secondary glazing (as long as it doesn't require changes to window frames or shutters, and dividing bars align with any existing window bars)
However, consent may be required where repairs:
- are extensive or structural
- involve alteration
- introduce or change materials
- affect the building’s character
