3. Purpose

The historic environment assessment will be a holistic study combining archaeological desk-based assessment (CIfA, 2017) with historic building (Historic England, 2016) and landscape assessment where appropriate.

It will consider the likely effects of development on extant heritage assets within and adjacent to the site, options for mitigating any negative impacts and also the potential of an historical understanding of the site to inform the layout and design of new development.
