How we're extending Buckinghamshire Greenway
We're building extensions to the greenway, and reviewing more routes we can add through the county.
View the different sections that we're working on below.
Wendover Dean to Great Missenden
Sustrans, the walking and cycling charity, are currently on site constructing the Misbourne Greenway route between Dunsmore Lane, Wendover Dean and Aylesbury Road, Great Missenden. Works are well advanced, with opening of the route envisaged later in 2025. Email Sustrans on [email protected] to subscribe to the Misbourne Greenway newsletter.
Buckingham to Stowe and Silverstone
We are currently working with partners at the National Trust and MEPC Silverstone Park to develop plans for this route section.
Denham link
We are undertaking feasibility work to establish a proposal for the route section linking Higher Denham, Denham Green, Denham village and the Grand Union Canal (NCN 6).
Wendover to Weston Turville and Aylesbury
The Wendover Arm Trust have completed upgrades to the towpath along the Wendover Arm of the Grand Union Canal between Wendover and Halton, part of which will form the future Greenway route.
We are working with partners to further develop the alignment for the remainder of this route section. The Hampden Fields development will include a route alignment for the Greenway through the site which will link Weston Turville and Aylesbury.
High Speed 2 (HS2)
There are a number of interfaces between the Greenway and HS2 across Buckinghamshire. There are two route sections where these interfaces are particularly complex:
- Wendover Dean – Wendover;
- Waddesdon – Quainton – Greatmoor – Calvert/Steeple Claydon
We are working with HS2 Ltd and their contractors, as well as the Department for Transport, to ensure that HS2 does not preclude future delivery the Greenway. Where possible, we are looking to secure delivery of Greenway infrastructure as part of the HS2 project.
