Road improvements: New A41 roundabout

Taylor Wimpey is creating a new roundabout on the A41 as well as the Southern Link Road.

As part of the project:

• the current A41 Woodlands roundabout will be demolished
• a new hamburger-style roundabout will be built (around 3 times larger than the existing roundabout)
• the Aston Clinton Road will be widened
• the new Southern Link Road to the Hampden Fields development will be created

The current roundabout is located at the junction of Aston Clinton Road, Aylesbury Road and the A41 dual carriageway.

This will provide an important connection as part of the Aylesbury Link Road, making sure enough infrastructure is in place to support the new housing at Hampden Fields (which will also be accessed via the Wendover Road roundabout).

The Southern Link Road will lead from the new A41 roundabout to the new Wendover Roundabout constructed as part of the SEALR scheme.

The A41 roundabout will connect the Southern Link Road and the Eastern Link Road which will eventually extend Northwards from the roundabout into the Woodlands development.

These works will:

• connect to the Southern Link Road through the Hampden Fields development
• provide the primary connection between the A41, Eastern Link Road and Southern Link Road
• transfer the existing overhead electricity cables underground to the south of the proposed road
• connect the development of new homes, employment areas, local centres, schools, green infrastructure and new transport links

Completing this project will:

• mean that the road network is better prepared to handle increased levels of traffic caused by new housing developments
• improve the road network as part of the Aylesbury Transport Strategy
• make it easier to travel between homes, workplaces, schools and walking/cycling routes
• help attract investment in the area and create job opportunities
