Apply for Highways pre-application advice before you formally apply for planning permission

What we offer

As part of pre-application advice, we will:

  • review your planning proposals and technical work
  • decide if there are any transport concerns (such as concerns with traffic capacity, parking, safety or complying with transport policy)
  • visit your site, if required

We'll then give you a formal recommendation, usually within 30 days (unless we need more information from you or it requires more technical work).

When our Planning Team receive your planning application, they'll consider our recommendation.

Our recommendations

Our recommendation will be sent to you as one of 3 outcomes:

  • no objection without conditions
  • no objection with conditions
  • refusal

For mixed-use sites, we will add half of the lower category fee to the higher category fee to calculate the total cost.
