Apply for a skip licence

A skip licence is needed if you want to place a skip on the public highway.

You cannot apply directly to us for a skip - you'll need to contact a local skip hire company who will do this on your behalf.

You can apply online to purchase a skip licence, it costs £129.

You'll need:

• the details of the skip hire company
• a description of where you intend to place the skip
• to confirm the start date needed for a licence

Licences are valid for 28 days.

You can apply twice to renew a skip licence - after that, you will need to apply for a new licence.

The cost to renew a skip licence is £45.

If you've already hired a skip, you'll need to apply for a retrospective skip licence.

A retrospective skip licence costs £384.

If the skip is to be put in a parking area or bay, you must apply for a parking suspension. This must be done prior to the application or you'll be subject to penalty charges.
