Thorney Country Park is a 50 acre former mineral site, part water and part landscaped grassland. The park provides walking, bird watching and picnic opportunities for visitors. The large lake and nearby pond are home to many overwintering birds with information panels on bird life.

Thorney Country Park combines woodland, grassland, and lake habitats. Suitable for all walking abilities with flat terrain. A few logs along the walk allow for great seated views of the lake.

Herons, Kingfishers, Eurasian blackcaps, and Eurasian green woodpeckers have all been seen here. At all times of year, you can see numerous waterfowl on the lake.

Access

There is good access at the park, with a large path network on flat terrain. It connects to the Colne Valley Trail.
