Buckinghamshire's Dementia Support Service

The free, easy to access Buckinghamshire Dementia Support Service puts you in touch with a trained Adviser who will connect you to the support you need. People with memory concerns can access telephone support, face to face visits, group information sessions and self-management tools which include an online community, publications and factsheets.

The service works with the Dementia Connect service at Alzheimer’s Society and connects you to a whole range of memory support.

Here are a few examples of the support provided:

  • emotional support when things get tough
  • connecting you to local support groups
  • help to understand and live with memory loss, including coping techniques
  • support with everyday living, such as accessing benefits
  • putting you in touch with legal and financial support
  • planning for the future

Phone support

The Dementia Support Advisers are available on the phone to give you the support you need. They will offer you the option of regular calls so we can keep in touch and help meet your changing support needs.

Support line opening hours are:

Monday to Wednesday: 9am to 8pm

Thursday to Friday: 9am to 5pm

Saturday to Sunday: 10am to 4pm

Face to face support

The Dementia Support Advisers in Buckinghamshire can meet you to offer further support, practical advice and information. They can also connect you with other face to face services in your area.

Online support

Online support is available round the clock through The Dementia Support Service website.

Find support materials to download or order, chat to others in a similar situation on the online community Talking Point, and search for local services through the online directory.

Information sessions

Memory Information Sessions are delivered by Advisers, virtually and in the community. They are 2 hour long sessions covering topics such as:

  • strategies for living well with memory difficulties
  • exercising your memory
  • developing ways to stay well
  • contacting others who can help
