We are located in the heart of Aylesbury, in the Buckinghamshire Council building. Our entrance is at the side of the council building.
Opening times
During the Festive period the Archive Services will be closed on Boxing day. Otherwise the opening times are as usual.

Facilities for visitors
We have one public room where customers can study archival original material and local studies resources such as:
- maps
- text books
- microfilm
- microfiche
- transcripts
- other documents detailing local history
We also offer:
- computers
- microfilm and microfiche readers
- sockets for you to plug in personal devices
- accessible toilets
- induction loop systems
- magnifying equipment
If you would like to use any of these resources during your visit, let us know and we will book you a specific seat in the room so you can access what you require.
You can use a camera in both our study areas, you will need to buy a permit.
To protect our documents, we do not allow certain items into the searchroom, including:
- pens
- food
- drinks (including water bottles)
Book an appointment
You can visit the archives without an appointment but we recommend booking an appointment 2 working days in advance to avoid disappointment and waiting times.

Pre-order documents
You can pre-order certain documents with us up to 2 working days before your planned visit.
You can pre-order up to:
- 10 documents for weekday visits
- 9 documents on Saturdays (we're open the first Saturday of every month only)
You're also able to order an additional 3 documents on the day depending how busy it is and this may include a wait time.
There are some documents which might be too large or too fragile for us to produce without advanced notice.
