Report Council Tax fraud

Council Tax fraud is when a person deliberately gives incorrect or misleading information in order to pay less or no Council Tax.

If you suspect that someone is claiming a discount or exemption which they may not be entitled to, contact our fraud team.

You can make a report anonymously. You do not have to give your name or contact details unless you want to.

Give as much information as you can about the person you’re reporting, even if you feel it may not be relevant.

their name
their address
the type of fraud you think they’re committing

You can avoid committing fraud by ensuring that the information you provide is correct.

As soon as any change occurs, you should inform us of a change in your circumstances.

If you claim a reduction or a discount which you are not entitled to, you will have to repay the money. We will also consider further action by issuing financial penalties or formal cautions.
