Why Buckinghamshire Council is attending UKREiiF 2026

We're attending the UK Real Estate Investment and Infrastructure Forum (UKREiiF) to support the delivery of planned growth and build the partnerships needed to deliver it effectively.

UKREiiF brings together councils, government, investors and developers to discuss housing, regeneration and infrastructure.

Attending allows us to take part in national discussions while ensuring that Buckinghamshire is well-positioned to deliver sustainable, long-term growth.

Our focus is on delivery, partnership and long-term benefits for residents, businesses and communities, ensuring growth is shaped carefully so it:

  • works for people
  • supports local pride
  • strengthens our places

What we're doing at UKREiiF

Our activity is focused on how to achieve growth and supporting thriving communities and a strong local economy.

Discussing strategic growth areas

Our senior councillors and officers will discuss growth including:

  • housing and employment
  • regenerating town centres and placemaking
  • transport, skills and infrastructure
  • long-term economic resilience and sustainability

These topics support our existing priorities. They recognise Buckinghamshire’s role within a wider high-growth regional economy. This includes key employment clusters (like Silverstone and the Westcott Space Cluster) which are creating jobs and opportunities for local people.

Launching the Aylesbury Town Centre Prospectus

We'll launch the Aylesbury Town Centre Prospectus.

The prospectus shows Aylesbury as a coordinated, housing-led town centre regeneration programme, rather than a series of disconnected sites.

It explains how:

  • about 5,000 new homes could be delivered in the town centre
  • we own or control over 60% of key sites
  • our role as an active and enabling partner
  • development would be phased with infrastructure and services

This is not just about development. It's about creating a town centre where people can:

  • live well
  • access services easily
  • feel part of a connected and active community.

We're not considering Aylesbury in isolation. It plays an important role in our wider economy, providing homes, services and opportunities that support people and communities.

As investment and employment continue to grow in surrounding areas, Aylesbury is well placed to respond. Helping to create a more vibrant, inclusive and resilient town centre that works for both residents and visitors.

Building partnerships carefully and responsibly

The UKREiiF gives an opportunity for each early-stage discussions with:

  • potential partners
  • investors and funders
  • government and national organisations

These will help us test delivery approaches, build confidence and identify the best long-term partners to support homes, jobs and thriving communities.

We will not make any decisions at the event.

Any future proposals will follow the our formal governance and public decision‑making processes.

What this means for residents and businesses

Growth is already planned. Our role is to make sure it is:

  • well planned and carefully phased
  • supported by infrastructure and services
  • aligned with jobs and economic opportunities
  • respectful of local character and environment
  • focused on long-term quality of place

Importantly, this is about ensuring growth benefits people by:

  • supporting local jobs
  • improving access to services
  • creating places where communities can thrive and feel proud to live

Aylesbury town centre is the first focus of this approach. This will demonstrate how brownfield land can be used to deliver more homes while strengthening the town centre for those who live, work and visit there.

Part of our long-term approach

Attending the UKREiiF is part of our wider, long‑term work to support:

  • stronger, more resilient town centres
  • new homes in sustainable locations
  • economic growth that benefits communities
  • better connected and more inclusive places

This approach is about planning ahead, working in partnership and delivering places that work for people, now and in future.
