Priorities for 2022/23

The Health and Wellbeing Cabinet Portfolio have identified the following priorities for 2022/23:

Promoting independence

Priorities: Transform our services so that people are supported to live fulfilled lives, avoid over-dependence on formal social care services and can stay independent for longer in line with the Better Lives Strategy.

Outcome: More people are able to live independently at home and where they have services, have more control their support.

Associated corporate plan objectives: Strengthening our communities and protecting the vulnerable.

Social care reforms

Priorities: Understand and prepare for the implementation of the Government’s new social care reforms

Outcome: People in Buckinghamshire can draw on services in line with the Government’s vision for social care.

Work with our partners

Priorities: Work better as a health and social care system with:

  • the NHS
  • care providers
  • voluntary groups
  • housing partners

This includes evolving partnership working across the Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West Integrated Care System (ICS) to make sure the Health and Care Bill changes are implemented in a way that best suits the needs of Buckinghamshire residents.

Outcome: People experience a seamless, high quality service regardless of the health or social care organisations involved.

Support and develop our workforce

Priorities: Support and develop our workforce to deliver the highest quality services.

Outcome: All those in need of social care support receive services that are delivered in a way that enhances their lives.

Tackle issues affecting health and wellbeing

Priorities: Tackling the key issues affecting health and wellbeing in Buckinghamshire, particularly health protection and Covid-19 recovery.

Outcome: All residents and communities in Buckinghamshire are supported to live healthy and happy lives, including recovering safely from the Covid-19 pandemic.

Associated corporate plan objectives: Strengthening our communities, improving our environment, protecting the vulnerable and increasing prosperity.

Maximising our budget

Priorities: Manage our budget in a way that maximises the delivery of high quality services within the funding available.

Outcome: The directorate achieves a balanced budget and the services delivered represent value for money for all stakeholders and service users.
