Communities Cabinet Portfolio

Last updated: 12 August 2022

Context of the portfolio

The Communities portfolio is a broad service area that works at the heart of all our communities, providing the “local face” of the council in Buckinghamshire.

The community functions link to important community partners and stakeholders, including Town and Parish Councils and the Voluntary Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) Sector.

Our teams proactively problem-solve, deliver on projects and drive change. We lead on strong connections between Buckinghamshire Council, its partners and our communities.

We work with others in creative ways to make Buckinghamshire a prosperous, safe and healthy place to live, work and grow.

Community Boards

The Community Board team supports and operates 16 Community Boards across the county which represent the council at a local level. They bring together elected Members with local groups, organisations, and residents, to look at local issues and find ways of improving them.

The Boards use local data, intelligence, and the views of people and partners in the community to identify key, localised areas of focus and priorities for the Board each year.

Consultation and Engagement Team

The Consultation and Engagement Team support and advise services through the consultation and engagement process, ensuring the effective and legal delivery of the council’s consultation and engagement activity.

They lead on the development of innovative and inclusive opportunities for both formal and informal engagement with the council’s key stakeholders, including partners, businesses and residents.
