3. Our current plans and documents

Buckinghamshire Council came into effect on 1 April 2020, bringing together the former Buckinghamshire County Council and former district councils of Aylesbury Vale, Chiltern, South Bucks and Wycombe.

As a result, the new council inherited the local development plan documents for each legacy council. These documents are still relevant to the former district areas because we use them to make local planning decisions.

To view all current and legacy plans see Local development plans.

The status of the plans for each former county and district area is as follows:

Aylesbury Vale

  • Vale of Aylesbury Local Plan (to 2033): this will supersede the 2004 local plan and is currently at examination in public
  • Aylesbury Vale District Local Plan: adopted in 2004

Buckinghamshire

  • Buckinghamshire Minerals and Waste Local Plan (to 2036): adopted in 2019 and applicable to the whole council area

Chiltern and South Bucks

  • Chiltern Local Plan: adopted in 1997
  • South Bucks Local Plan: adopted in 1999
  • Chiltern Core Strategy: adopted in 2011
  • South Bucks Core Strategy: adopted in 2011
  • Chiltern and South Bucks Local Plan (to 2036) (Publication Version): withdrawn

Wycombe

  • Wycombe Local Plan (to 2033): adopted in 2019
  • Delivery and Site Allocations Plan: adopted in 2013

Other plans and policy documents

In addition to the local development plans, we're preparing other plans and policy documents:

There are no local plans or development plan documents that we intend to produce jointly with other authorities.
