Apply for planning permission
When you may not need planning permission
Some building projects may not need planning permission from Buckinghamshire Council because they have been granted permission through permitted development rights.
These projects could include:
- conservatories
- house extensions
- garden buildings
Read more about permitted development rights and when they can be removed (known as Article 4 directions) on GOV.UK.
Other permissions such as advertisement consent, building regulations, and listed building consent may also be required.
Check if you need planning permission
For an initial check to find out if planning permission is required for work to a house or within its garden, use our free online checker (PlanX).
If permitted development rights have been removed then a second stage check is still needed.
We also offer a paid planning advice service.
Read about the difference between planning permission and building regulations.
Appealing a planning decision
If your planning application is refused and we cannot reach an agreement, or if you disagree with the decision, you can appeal through GOV.UK.
