Apply for planning permission

When you may not need planning permission

Some building projects may not need planning permission from Buckinghamshire Council because they have been granted permission through permitted development rights.

These projects could include:

  • conservatories
  • house extensions
  • garden buildings

Read more about permitted development rights and when they can be removed (known as Article 4 directions) on GOV.UK.

The best way to check if you need permission is by using our paid service to find out if planning permission is required.

Other permissions such as advertisement consent, building regulations, and listed building consent may also be required.

Read about the difference between planning permission and building regulations.

If your planning application is refused and we cannot reach an agreement, or if you disagree with the decision, you can appeal through GOV.UK.
