Apply for planning permission

After you've applied for planning permission

After you've paid your fee your application will be checked to make sure all the right documents have been submitted and they are correct.

If your application is incorrect or has anything missing your application will be invalid. You will then have to make the necessary changes before your application is continued.

A planning officer will get your application once it is valid.

Planning decisions are based on:

  • current legislation
  • national planning policy
  • development plan policy
  • all material considerations identified

A decision will be made as quickly as possible. We will aim to meet the statutory time limits of between 8 to 13 weeks, although often a longer period is agreed with the applicant.

If the decision takes longer than expected, you can appeal through GOV.UK.
