Buckinghamshire Lottery celebrates its first jackpot win!
One lucky Buckinghamshire resident has been celebrating this week following an incredible £25,000 jackpot win on the Buckinghamshire Lottery on Saturday 4 July.
The winner, who is from Chalfont St. Giles, matched all six numbers while supporting Chalfont Wasps Football Club. The club’s Chairman, Steve Waddington, got in touch to say: “’The Wasps’ have been participants in the Buckinghamshire Lottery since its inception. Through our efforts to promote the benefits to both the individual ticket holders and the club itself, we have been fortunate to have a healthy number of supporters.
The club is run on a volunteer basis for our community and the additional funds raised through the Lottery scheme really helps us to continue to provide football for both senior and junior players within a family friendly social environment.
Our supporters have had numerous cash wins and extra tickets over the years - but it was never expected, and absolutely fantastic, when one of our valued club members won the top prize of £25k!”
The Buckinghamshire Lottery supports a huge variety of good causes across the county, including sports clubs, animal charities, disability charities, local community centres and schools. Tickets cost just £1 and 60% of all ticket sales go directly to the good cause itself. Players can choose to support either their favourite good cause or alternatively the general good cause fund, which supports a wide range of local organisations.
The winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, said: "I play the Lottery to help support my local football club, Chalfont Wasps. It’s so easy to do, and I know how much it helps improve their funding. I always pay monthly by direct debit so that I know my tickets are always included in the draw.
"I must confess that it has not really sunk in that I have won £25,000. I am so over the moon as I never win anything. I am still trying to decide what to spend it on, but a holiday is definitely top of the list!"
Buckinghamshire Council’s Cabinet Member for Communities and Public Health, Gareth Williams, added: “This is such fantastic news, especially at the moment when everything around us is so uncertain. Buckinghamshire Lottery can really help organisations big and small across the county with much needed additional funding, and it is fabulous that the Buckinghamshire Lottery is able to offer residents huge wins like we’ve seen this week. My congratulations go to the lucky winner and to Chalfont Wasps.”
