Buckinghamshire Council opens new school in Kingsbrook, Aylesbury

A new primary school officially opened its doors on Wednesday 15 September.

Kingsbrook View Primary Academy is a state of the art, multi-million-pound facility, and the first school to be opened on this major housing development. The funding for the school came from Homes England through the Housing Infrastructure Funding and Section 106 funding.

Situated within the wildlife friendly Kingsbrook housing development in Aylesbury, Kingsbrook View Primary Academy is a free school run by the Inspiring Futures Partnership Trust. The school is a primary school for 420 pupils including a 52-place nursery.

The high-quality, energy efficient building has been designed to enhance the character of the local area and includes a number of landscaping features to help the building complement its surroundings, with planting choices to maximise benefits for wildlife.

The new school has car parking, including electric charging points; cycle and scooter storage; and external play areas comprising a grass playing pitch, trim trail, multi-use-games-area (MUGA), hard and soft play areas, a wildlife area and forest school.

The project led by Buckinghamshire Council has been completed through a strong partnership with the developer, Barratt David Wilson Homes, the Academy Sponsor, Inspiring Futures Partnership Trust, and our main contractor Morgan Sindall. Buckinghamshire Council’s Schools Commissioning and Major Projects Team led on this project.

Councillor Anita Cranmer, Cabinet Member for Education at Buckinghamshire Council said: “This is a truly wonderful building. The facilities are second to none and will provide a great learning environment for the current and future pupils. The building has sustainable credentials such as solar panels on the roof and the building fabric is designed to ensure it is thermally efficient thereby reducing the carbon emissions which will help the Council meet its Carbon reduction targets. I hope the pupils, teachers, staff and local community enjoy the new facilities for many years to come.”

Karly Williams, Sales and Marketing Director at Barratt North Thames, commented: “Delivering Kingsbrook View Primary Academy has been a result of a close working relationship with Buckinghamshire Council and their contractor Morgan Sindall and we are proud to mark its opening. The project showcases the importance of working with local stakeholders to ensure our Kingsbrook development is beneficial to the wider Aylesbury community, as well as the school being an important facility for all the families onsite. We look forward to working with the school on a variety of community activities for the years to come.”
