Aston Clinton re-use shop to reopen
Buckinghamshire Council, FCC Environment and South Bucks Hospice are pleased to announce that the re-use shop at the Aston Clinton household recycling centre will reopen on Monday 22 June.
For the time being the shop's opening times will be 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday only.
There are also measures in place to allow staff and customers to follow coronavirus prevention guidelines:
- A limit on the number of people in the shop at anyone time
- Two metre social distancing
- A one-way system inside the shop
- Hand sanitising facilities available
- Payment by card encouraged
- Car parking spaces at the shop will be limited as every other bay will be closed off as per the current distancing arrangements across the whole site.
All Buckinghamshire's recycling centres will have a container where you can place re-usable items for the shops to sell. Items received will be cleansed where possible or otherwise kept in quarantine in line with guidelines prior to being presented for sale.
Bill Chapple OBE, Buckinghamshire Council Cabinet Member for Environment & Climate Change, said: "Buckinghamshire Council is firmly committed to making the county's waste and recycling services as environmentally friendly as possible, and our re-use shops are an example of that. I'm really pleased that their phased reopening begins this Monday 22 June with the shop at Aston Clinton, with that at High Wycombe to follow as soon as suitable arrangements have been made to ensure staff and visitor safety.
"By purchasing an item from our re-use shops you are not only extending its life instead of throwing it away, you're also supporting the important work of the South Bucks Hospice. It also means that all those items you have found in the shed or garage over lockdown can be found a new home, giving you more space!"
Jackie Ward, Acting Chief Executive at South Bucks Hospice, said: "We are delighted to be able to open this wonderful re-use shop at Aston Clinton. We sadly had to temporarily close it in March due to the coronavirus crisis, so are very much looking forward to welcoming our customers back.
"The great thing about this re-use shop is that it benefits everybody. People looking for affordable goods love the type of things they find here, while it helps the environment by promoting re-use rather than having perfectly decent items just discarded as waste."
