Request COVID-19 PPE

To meet COVID-19 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) needs, the government has committed to providing free PPE until the end of March 2023, or until Infection Prevention Control guidance is either withdrawn or substantially amended (whichever is sooner) for:

  • health care providers
  • social care providers
  • public sector workers

View the GOV.UK webpage how to order PPE for more details.

From the end of March 2022, Buckinghamshire Council will no longer be providing a PPE distribution service and you will need to sign up to the PPE Portal operated by the DHSC.

We request that you order your PPE on a monthly basis, as this is more efficient and environmentally sustainable.

Providers who can already order COVID-19 PPE via the PPE portal

The following health and social care organisations should continue to order routine supplies of COVID-19 through the PPE Portal:

  • GPs
  • residential social care providers
  • domiciliary social care providers
  • pharmacies
  • dentists
  • orthodontists
  • optometrists
  • children’s care homes and secure homes
  • children’s residential special schools
  • community drug and alcohol services
  • residential drug and alcohol services

If you are one of the above sectors, do not fill out this form. Instead, call the DHSC customer service team on 0800 976 6802. The team is available from 7am to 7pm, 7 days a week.

PPE guidance

Please remember that the government guidance regarding which PPE needs to be used in which circumstances is not client group specific. Therefore each provider needs to ensure that they are implementing the guidance that relates to the types of service they provide.

If you are finding that anyone that you support is becoming distressed when approached by people in PPE, we would recommend reading section 3 of the care homes guidance.

This guidance provides ideas on how to introduce the concept of masks and good practice around decision-making if the person continues to be distressed.
