Getting to grips with Microsoft Excel!
Our Adult Learning Service is delivering FREE numeracy workshops across Buckinghamshire as part of its Multiply campaign, to help local employees get to grips with Excel.
The best way to learn Excel is to use Excel, which is why Buckinghamshire Adult Learning is offering a series of 90-minute online workshops targeted at adults (aged 19+) who do not already have a maths GCSE at grade C (or equivalent) or hold a Level 2 Maths qualification.
The workshops aim to support local businesses improve their employees’ confidence in using Microsoft Excel for business. This includes providing practical skills to manage spreadsheets, understand and create calculations using formulae and functions, create graphs and charts to analyse and present data and extrapolate trends and report on them… and so much more! Learners will be encouraged to solve a broad range of business problems as they apply the Excel skills and techniques they learn along the way.
To be eligible for a free place on our ‘Getting to grips with…’ Multiply workshops, learners must:
- Live or work in Buckinghamshire
- Be aged 19+
- Not have a maths GCSE at grade C (or equivalent) or hold a Level 2 maths qualification

Getting to grips with Budget This workshop is targeted at people who use spreadsheets within the workplace and now need to further develop their skills to manage business finances via Excel for example, departmental budgets, expenses, and VAT. By the end of the session, learners will be confident in using spreadsheets to support the setting, monitoring, and tracking of budgets and finances. • PMT and related financial functions • Create non-contiguous charts and graphs related to finances • Dual-axis charts • Extrapolate trends and report on them |

Multiply is a new government-funded programme to help adults (19 years+) who do not already have a maths GCSE at grade C (or equivalent) improve their numeracy skills. Good numeracy skills and improving confidence in maths may help you gain a qualification, unlock job opportunities and lead to higher wages, or help prepare for further study. These skills can also help in everyday life, with tasks such as:
- Managing a household budget
- Getting a new job
- Helping children with their homework
