Changes to Council Tax Direct Debit dates
After moving all residents onto a single Council Tax system, we will be changing some of our Council Tax Direct Debit collection dates from April 2023.
Which dates are changing

Changes for former Chiltern District Council area residents who pay by Direct Debit
Background
Our Council Tax year runs from 1 April to 31 March each year.
Your annual bill is calculated for that year and can be paid across either:
- 12 monthly instalments
- 10 slightly higher instalments where you have 2 months with no instalments
You will pay the same annual amount but across a different number of instalments.
If you pay in 10 monthly instalments
How you paid Council Tax in 2022/23
If you live in the former Chiltern District Council area of Buckinghamshire and pay Council Tax in 10 monthly instalments, you will have paid Council Tax between May 2022 and February 2023. This meant that you wouldn't pay instalments in March and April 2023.
How you will pay Council Tax in 2023/24 and onwards
From April 2023,you will pay the 10 instalments between April and January. This means that you won't pay instalments in February and March.

If you pay in 12 monthly instalments
If you currently pay your bill across 12 monthly instalments starting in May, from May 2023 your annual bill will be paid across 11 instalments rather than 12.
The 11 instalments will be taken monthly between May 2023 and March 2024.
As you will be paying your annual bill across fewer instalments, each instalment will be slightly higher than usual.
In April 2024 you will be automatically moved back to 12 monthly instalments paid between April 2024 to March 2025.
