£150 Council Tax energy rebate
Council Tax extra top up payment
If you are in bands A to H and receive benefits or reduction you may be eligible for a one-off top up ‘helping hand payment’ of £25 in addition to any other energy rebate (mandatory or discretionary).
You can only receive one top up of £25 per household.
We have started making top up payments to eligible residents.
The council reserves the right to amend the level of any top up or to withdraw the top up scheme subject to available funding from the UK Government.
Who is eligible
If you have received a £150 payment and you are in bands A to D, you are able to apply for the extra top up payment if anyone in your household is in receipt of any of the following benefits or reductions:
- Income support
- Job Seeker’s Allowance (Income Based)
- Employment Support Allowance (Income Related)
- Working Tax Credit
- Universal Credit
- Housing Benefit
- Council Tax Reduction
Evidence required
If eligible, you will need to supply proof of your benefit to claim your top up.
We will accept the following documents as evidence if the documents are dated within the last 3 months:
- a bank statement showing the benefit payment being paid into your account
- a benefit award letter
- a statement of your benefit account
We will also accept a screen shot or photograph of documents as evidence.
