Re-opening our town centres and high streets

With the recent Government announcements about re-opening non-essential retail on the 15 June, we have been working in partnership with our local businesses and communities to ensure that this can happen in as safe a way as possible. As our high streets begin to reopen from Monday 15 June onwards, we aim to keep the changes to a minimum, however things will look and feel a little different as we work together to introduce vital measures to ensure that social distancing is maintained.

In many places, you’re likely to see markers on the pavements, one way pedestrian routes and visible directional signage to help remind you to take care, stay safe and to guide you.

We’re working with local businesses and town and parish councils to do our best to make sure that people can get into towns and move around them safely. All signage for the town centres and high streets produced by Buckinghamshire Council is funded by the European Regional Development Fund and HM Government.

We have produced guidance for town centres and high streets to consider for ‘re-opening’ and will be sharing more detailed information about the arrangements we’re putting in place as they become available.
