Borrowing charges

You can borrow books for 3 weeks for free, and have a maximum of 30 books on loan at any time. You can borrow items from the eLibrary for free (loan periods vary).

Audiobooks

You can borrow audiobooks, including tape or CD sets, for 3 weeks.

Overdue items

Your membership will be automatically suspended if you have outstanding charges of £10 or more (£5 in the case of a child's membership). All library services will be suspended until the debt is cleared in full.

You can pay a charge online or in person at the library.

If you lose or damage an item you should contact Buckinghamshire Library Service. We ask that you pay the cost of replacing it.

Notifications about reservations and overdue items

Notifications for reservations, overdue items and issue slips for items that have been loaned at the library reception desk will be sent to your email address.

If you wish to receive postal notices instead of email notifications, please ask library staff or update your notification preferences online by logging into your library account.

Scanning

The first page scanned costs £1.20. Additional pages (A3, A4 and A5) are 30p per page.

An annual reading group subscription costs £26.75

Concessions

Concessions apply to Buckinghamshire libraries stock only.

You do not have to pay charges for reservations or postal notifications if you are:

  • under 18
  • over 65
  • unable to read as a result of physical, sensory or learning disability
  • a Home Library Service customer
  • a Library Buddy customer
  • an assisted adult aged 65 years or over

You do not have to pay charges for borrowing items or for overdue items if you are:

  • unable to read as a result of physical, sensory or learning disability
  • a Home Library Service customer
  • a Library Buddy customer

You do not have to pay charges for overdue items if you are:

  • an assisted adult aged 18 to 64 years
  • an assisted adult aged 65 years or over

You can borrow items for an extended loan period if you are:

  • a Library Buddy customer
  • a Home Library Service customer

You can borrow children's books for an extended loan period if you're a registered childminder or playgroup leader.
